Original Mandate and Keren Hayesod Today

First launched in 1920, in a bid to harness and direct the solidarity and material resources of world Jewry towards an unprecedented endeavor to build and sustain a Jewish homeland, Keren Hayesod remains at the forefront of a Jewish world partnership that continues to play a key role in developing and reinforcing the Jewish State.

Working in tandem with the Jewish Agency for Israel and the Government of Israel, Keren Hayesod is committed to advancing Israel's top national and social priorities through three principal areas:

Immigration (Aliyah) and Absorption - Keren Hayesod assists Jews all over the world to make 'aliyah' and provides them with the tools they need to integrate successfully into Israeli society.

Strengthening Israeli Society -  through creating social and educational opportunity for underprivileged and low-income communities located in Israel's border towns and outlying areas, Keren Hayesod works to secure Israel's Northern and Southern communities both socially and demographically.

Jewish Zionist Education – for young Diaspora Jews
Reaching the hearts and minds of young Diaspora Jews has become one of the greatest challenges of our generation. Keren Hayesod has taken up the significant challenge of connecting young Jewish people to Israel, Zionism and their Jewish heritage by exposing them to Israel and Jewish life.

Always relevant to the contemporary needs of Israeli society, Keren Hayesod programs change over time – but her comprehensive vision for Israel and the Jewish people remain constant.

Keren Hayesod operates under the terms of the “Keren Hayesod Law” passed by the Knesset in January 1956, and is a registered non-profit corporation in the State of Israel.
