5.5.08, Canaan, Germany - The Lord works in mysterious ways … one finds Friends of Israel in the most unexpected places. “Canaan”, Germany is one of those places. Located in the city of Darmstadt, south of Frankfurt am Main, “Canaan” is the spiritual home and “Promised Land” of the Evangelical Sisterhood of Mary (“Evangelische Marienschwesternschaft”).

This remarkable story begins with a girls Bible study group which was established in the midst of the Second World War by the founding Mothers of the Sisterhood of Mary, Basilea Schlink and Martyria Madauss. As a direct result of the experiences and revelations of the founding Mothers, the Sisterhood of Mary has developed a deep commitment to Israel and the Jewish People.  Through action, prayer, teaching and material support, the members of the Sisterhood of Mary have demonstrated their unswerving dedication to the State of Israel. Over the years, the Sisterhood of Mary has contributed to numerous projects in Israel.

 David Wolfe, KH representative in Germany, recently visited the Sisterhood of Mary where he received an update of the Sisterhood’s activities and discussed various prospects for future cooperation with KH
