Since its establishment, Keren Hayesod, working in partnership with the Jewish people around the world, has supported the national priorities of the State of Israel. Keren Hayesod focuses on three core areas of activity, which represent the three major strategic challenges facing Israel today.

Strengthening Israeli Society
Israel’s growing socio-economic gap is most pronounced in its social and geographic peripheries:  among disadvantaged population groups, and in the Negev and the Galilee, which are cut off from the economic, cultural, and educational opportunities that are available in the center of the country.  Through projects that provide educational opportunities for disadvantaged youth and programs to develop the Negev and the Galilee educationally and economically,  Keren Hayesod is providing long-term solutions that have a lasting impact on the lives of the underprivileged and promise a better future for Israeli society.

Immigration and Absorption
Since the establishment of the State of Israel, Keren Hayesod has brought over three million Jews back home. Their skills, experience, and talents have helped transform the fledgling state into a modern, industrial country.  Immigration, however, cannot succeed without successful integration.  Keren Hayesod is dedicated to easing the transition for newcomers. Absorption centers, ulpan Hebrew classes, student scholarships, frameworks for youngsters who make aliyah without their parents, special initiatives to help Ethiopian youngsters integrate - these and other programs help ensure that the Jewish homeland truly becomes a home for new immigrants.

Jewish Zionist Education
With assimilation decimating the ranks of the Jewish people, and support for Israel and Jewish causes declining among young Jews, Keren Hayesod is committed to a concerted, global effort to upgrade the quality of Jewish education.  Educators from Israel deepen Jewish identity and strengthen a sense of connection to Israel in Jewish schools, camps, and youth movements.  Jewish day schools and informal education programs in the FSU and other countries give youngsters a sense of Jewish identity and affinity with Israel.  And for tens of thousands of youngsters, the first-hand encounter with Israel through MASA, Birthright, and the Israel Experience is a transformational experience reconnecting them to their people and their homeland.
