Keren Hayesod is involved in Israel's most sophisticated  project initiatives in the field of alternative energy. The need for technologies to develop new sources  of energy is urgent.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Israel for the specific purpose of dedicating the monument of victory commemorating the triumph of the Red Army over Nazi Germany during the Second World War.  Soviet soldiers were the first to meet the survivors after they liberated the concentration camps.

On Wednesday 13th June, UIA held its volunteers dinner - an evening which celebrates and acknowledges the hard work and dedication of our volunteers who form the backbone of our organisation. The evening was MC'd by Zeddy Lawrence, the National Editor for the Australian Jewish News who did a marvellous job of bringing the evening together even reflecting on his own experiences of growing up in England with the UIA and the importance of volunteering.

No matter which, the race is on and thank G-d there is no finishing line in sight! That is because the track has become as vast as its runners are diverse and while everyone is facing the starting line, they often face very different directions and targets, not to mention modes of operation. Jewish leadership, like Jewish affiliation, is taking on many different forms – and recognizing new leadership and affiliation patterns has become a challenge we can no longer afford to ignore.

In Israel on a very short personal visit, Sue and Michael Small from Melbourne felt it was important to add to their itinerary a visit to the Kiryat Yearim Youth Village.

On Thursday, June 7, 2012, three generations of the Hoffman Family from Australia took part in a very special visit at the Israel Government Fellows (IGF) program at the Begin Heritage Centre in Jerusalem.

On May 24th Faroe Islands Woman mission members, visited Mevaseret absorption center, home to new immigrants arriving in Israel from Ethiopia. Following an extensive tour of the absorption center, mission participants were treated to a warm welcome complete by one of many kindergartens of the Olim.

Meir Itzchaki of the Israeli Embassy in Canberra recently gave an informative political update on the current situation facing the Middle East to the Sydney UIA Women's Division Lions of Judah and Executive. Shirley Lowy, herself a lion of Judah recipient, welcomed everyone to the morning tea at the home of Lauren and Bruce Fink.
