Eliezer Moodi Sandberg, World Chairman of Keren Hayesod UIA and Yohanna Arbib-Perugia, Chair of World Board of Trustees headed for the embattled south, to see from close-up the immediate needs of the residents.
The first stop was Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon, where doctors presented a bleak picture of the unprotected medical institution.
One of the doctors noted how frustrated he was over his inability to provide proper protection for his patients, saying he experiences a sense of failure.
Eliezer Moodi Sandberg and Yohanna Arbib-Perugia also paid a condolence call to the Smadja Family and met leaders of the targeted areas.
Later, KH-UIA presented a contribution of $1 million to the State of Israel, designated to renovating and purchasing bomb-shelters, at the cost of $15,000 each. The $1 million check was given to the Minister of Internal Security, Avi Dichter, at his Sderot office.
