Farewell to a great Jewish leader

Yesterday, on the 7th of the Jewish month of Adar – the date of birth and death of our forefather Moshe, Keren Hayesod, and indeed the Jewish world, lost one of its great leaders: Sami Bollag z"l.

A highly successful businessman in the fashion sector, Sami served as President of Keren Hayesod Switzerland from 2001 to 2016, was a member of the Keren Hayesod International Executive and served on the Jewish Agency Board of Governors.

Sami Bollag was awarded the Yakir Keren Hayesod Award in 2012 by President Shimon Peres z"l and the KH leadership, for his extraordinary contribution to Keren Hayesod, Israel and the Jewish People.

Sami left his mark, as a leader and a generous philanthropist, on the State of Israel in countless projects – including most notably the impressive social and cultural projects in Kedma Village for youth at risk and Ethiopian immigrants, the Switzerland Youth Center in Beer Sheva , the Sulamot music project, and two state-of-the-art Swiss community centers in Rehovot, where he also served as the Co-President of the P2G Partnership.

The worldwide KH family wishes to express its deepest sorrow for the untimely passing of Sami and send its heartfelt condolences to his wife, Anette, his daughters and family. His great deeds, inspiring leadership, generosity and dedication to Israel, the Jewish People and Keren Hayesod have impacted the lives of tens of thousands – and will continue to do so, and he will be remembered with gratitude and appreciation by us all.
