UIA Australia Federal President

During a recent visit to Israel with family and friends, UIA Australia Federal President Harold Finger OAM celebrated his 60th birthday.
This gave us an excellent opportunity to thank him for decades of leadership and generosity, which reflect his unconditional love for Israel along with Jewish and Zionist causes in Australia.
A major donor and canvasser himself, Harold has been active in UIA New South Wales since 1980.  He has held major positions in the organization, serving as Chairman of the Young Leadership Division (1990 -1992), Chairman of UIA NSW (1998-2002), and President (2002-2007), and has led several UIA Missions to Israel.   He has also been involved in various communal organizations, among them the Sydney Jewish Museum and Moriah College. He received the Yakir Keren Hayesod Award in 2010.

"The  most significant thing during my 60th birthday visit to Israel was being in Israel with all my family, including the next generation, our four  precious granddaughters, along with my closest family and friends,” says Harold.
“The highlight was when General Amir Eshel dropped in unannounced to say a few kind words about myself and Stanley [Roth, himself also a Yakir Keren Hayesod Award recipient in 2010] during my birthday celebration. It was held at 12 Rothschild Boulevard, two doors from where Ben Gurion declared the State of Israel, and this is the reason why this location was chosen.
“Walking to the Kotel on Shabbat, with our granddaughters, brought tears to my eyes. We were all together only because [my wife] Rebecca’s parents and mine had somehow managed to survive the Holocaust. Showing  Israel to my granddaughters (our children have been with us many times already, so it was not new for them, but equally moving) has been a most thrilling experience. No matter how old they are, they will remember it for the rest of their lives.

A memorable 60th birthday in Tel Aviv

“This Golden Era of  the Jewish people is possible because we have a Jewish homeland. Talking about doing things is one thing, but acting on your words is something I have lived by".
The Keren Hayesod Head Office in Jerusalem and the worldwide KH family wish to thank Harold for everything he has done, continues to do, and will do for Keren Hayesod-UIA and Israel, and  wish him many more years of activity and success in all his endeavours!
