The "First Lady" of the French Campaign

Nicole Weinberg z"l 1928-2011
A great leader of Keren Hayesod and the AUJF (French Campaign) has just passed away. For decades, Nicole was known as the "First Lady" of the French Campaign AUJF (KH's combined Campaign in France). Working hand-in-hand with her late husband, Sammy, who held the position of Campaign Chairman from 1980 to 1983, Nicole also served in top leadership positions in her own right, chairing the Campaign from 1995 to 1998. While investing boundless time and energy in both the Women's Campaign (AUJF's Women Committee) and the French Women's Division (Coopération Féminine), Nicole also served as the IWD's Vice-President for Europe until her death. A former member of KH-UIA World Board of Trustees and the Jewish Agency Board of Governors, Nicole received the IWD Award of Excellence in 1998. In 2004, she was awarded the prestigious Yakir Keren Hayesod Award for her lifetime work. The Award was presented by the then Minister of Absorption, Tzipi Livni, at an impressive ceremony which took place at the Beit Shean Roman amphitheater.
Nicole was a person who everybody turned to for good advice, a friendly conversation or an incisive analysis of Jewish and Israeli affairs. We already miss her energy, enthusiasm, humor and inexhaustible love for Israel. The worldwide Keren Hayesod family expresses its profound sorrow and extends its deepest condolences to her children and her entire family.
