Strengthening Israeli Society

Advancing border towns and depressed areas

The populaces of Israel's northern and southern border towns, cities and rural communities, are characterized by low-income families, high unemployment and low education levels. The high distress level found among local residents is compounded by the threat and trauma of rocket bombardments. KH-UIA is now bringing effective change to these regions and to many disadvantaged inner-city neighborhoods, through programs that bring young social activists to settle in disadvantaged areas. Forming young dynamic communities, these activists contribute their skills and energy to empowering and advancing the wider communities among which they live. KH-UIA also provides loans to young entrepreneurs and small businesses, helping local residents get started in business while boosting the local economy and commerce in depressed areas.
