Jerusalem Day brings together in the capital visitors from around the world: youth, tourists, and pilgrims who come to visit the amazing sites of the Eternal City - a city that is full of life, vibrant and replete with rich cultural and social events.  The markets and shopping centers in the western part of the city and in the alleys of the old city are bustling.

I am standing at the crossroads of time. Here, near Jaffa Gate at the entrance to the Old City of Jerusalem, past and present seamlessly meet.  What more appropriate occasion is there than Jerusalem Day to reflect on the incredible history of our eternal capital?  And what better place than the gates of the rebuilt, reunified city to ponder the bond that links Jews all over the world into one community that transcends both time and place?

Today, May 17, 2012, Mr. Max Mazin one of the leaders of Spanish Jewry died in Madrid.
