In Gratitude: Meny Samra Cohen

Mexico

He was born in Lebanon in 1961, the son of Víctor Samra Z“L and Rachel Cohen Z”L.

In 1975, after the outbreak of the civil war in Lebanon, he left with his family for Cyprus, where the Israeli Embassy helped them to reach Israel. After a brief period, they traveled to Mexico, where he took a course in Senior Business Management and a Diploma in International Business.

Noted for his community leadership and his support for the State of Israel and being an active part of the Dor Hemshej group of Keren Hayesod, in 2004 he received the Herzl Prize from the World Zionist Organization, awarded to outstanding young people, in recognition of his support for Israel and the Zionist cause.

From 2010 to 2013, he assumed the presidency of Keren Hayesod Mexico, constantly promoting important projects and highlighting his participation in the construction of the Nuclear Wing of the Hillel Yafe Hospital.

From 2014 to 2022 he served as President of the Mexico-Israel Chamber of Commerce and Industry, advising business leaders and organizing frequent Trade Missions to promote trade between the two countries.

During these years, he was awarded the “Amante de México” (Lover of Mexico) Prize, which is given to different outstanding personalities from all fields in the Chamber of Deputies. As well as the title of “Doctor Honoris Causa” awarded by the Mexican Institute of Leaders of Excellence.

He is the General Director of the Funsam Group and the Exiplastic Group and an active member of the National Association of Plastic Industries (ANIPAC).

Married to Linda Atach, together they have formed a beautiful family, with 4 children (Víctor, Rafael, Shelly and David), as well as 9 grandchildren, succeeding in transmitting their love and commitment to Israel.

Meny Samra, is an active Askan with an admirable career, who preaches philanthropy through example.
