In Gratitude: Anna Hsiao-Fen Shen

2018 Yakir Keren Hayesod Award recipient

Taiwan

Anna Hsiao-Fen Shen, a native of Taiwan, received a BA from Tunghai University in Taichung and a Master of Interior Architecture from the University of Oregon.  After working as a space designer, she took a job with the international auction house Sotheby’s Ltd. in Taiwan.  She later taught at universities, and worked as a translator for publishing houses and an interpreter at international conferences.

In 1996, Anna became a believer of the God of Israel.  She made her first trip to Israel in 2005 and began taking groups to visit the Jewish state and pray for Israel.  In 2007, she was recruited as the media and public affairs officer at the Israel representative office in Taiwan and was instrumental in founding the Taiwan-Israel Chamber of Commerce.   In 2010, together with the National Prayer Network in Taiwan, she organized the planting of 5771 trees in the Yatir Forest in Israel in honor of the new Jewish year.

In 2011, Anna was asked to set up a Keren Hayesod-UIA branch office in Taiwan. She felt this was a call from God to help bring His people back home.  The following year, she became chairwoman.   With the support of churches in Taiwan, Hong Kong and China, as well as India, Malaysia and the US, she has almost tripled the number of members in Taiwan.  Anna is currently CEO of the Taiwan office and representative of the greater Chinese world to Keren Hayesod-UIA.

For her vision, her extraordinary leadership and her unwavering dedication, Anna Hsiao-Fen Shen is a worthy recipient of the Yakir Keren Hayesod Award.
