A highly successful accountant and certified financial planner, Julian Black received a business degree with honours from Southampton University in his native England. He was a lecturer at the Ecole Superieure De Commerce in Le Havre, France, from 1971 to 1973 and co-authored English for Decision Making.
After moving to Australia in 1973, Julian joined the prominent accounting firm CPA Australia. He completed a graduate diploma in accounting and finance at Monash University and was admitted to the CPA as a chartered accountant. He is a fellow of the Tax Institute and the CEO Institute. A company auditor and self-managed superannuation fund audit specialist, Julian has been managing director of Black & Krantz since 1981.
Julian became involved with UIA in 1979. He has served as the treasurer of UIA Victoria since 1998 and since 2005, as federal treasurer. In 2005, he was recognized with the Askan Award. He is also active in various other Jewish organizations; he served as council member, treasurer, assistant treasurer and governor of Bialik College and as a trustee of the St. Kilda Hebrew Congregation Library Fund. He was also involved with the Victorian Coordinating Committee of Jewish Schools and the Maccabi Football Club.
Julian and his wife, Rozet, have three children: Sharna, Adam and Jonathan.
