MASA Israel Journey

A YEAR IN ISRAEL – A JEW FOR LIFE

WHY MASA?

At a time of perilously high intermarriage rates, when Jewish identity and solidarity with Israel is waning among young adults, MASA has proven to be a most effective tool for building lasting relationships with Israel, strengthening Jewish identity, and deepening the connection with the Jewish people.

WHAT IS MASA?

A joint project of the Government of Israel and the Jewish Agency, MASA gives young Jews ages 18 to 30 from the Diaspora the opportunity to fully experience Israel on long-term educational programs.

HOW DOES IT WORK

  • MASA includes four types of five- to twelve-month frameworks: a) post-high school b) academic c) post-university internships and volunteer opportunities and d) Jewish studies at a yeshiva or seminary.  Participants have a choice of over 160 programs in Jewish studies, science, social science, the humanities, the arts, ecology, medicine, and more, tailored to their specific interests
  • Programs encompass study, volunteering, outdoor adventures, sightseeing, and encounters with young Israelis and Diaspora Jews

HOW IS IT UNIQUE?

  • A recent study by Prof. Steven Cohen has shown a strong correlation between participation in MASA  and all aspects of Israel-related and Jewish engagement, including Israel-related activities, marriage to Jews, aliyah, career choices, and more
  • MASA graduates have proven to be three times more likely than their peers to remain permanently involved in Jewish life

WHOM DOES IT HELP?

Thousands of young Jewish adults from eastern and western Europe, English-speaking countries, Latin America, the CIS, and other countries every year

HOW YOU CAN HELP

MASA costs an average of $5150 per participant.
Every dollar you contribute will help a Jewish young adult re-connect with his or her Jewish roots and with Israel! Donate now

The program is also supported by matching government funds.
