The buds of the Jewish state

If we were to liken the efforts of Israel’s founding to a blossoming plant, then on this very day, 76 years ago, the first buds of the state began to sprout.

On November 29, 1947, the United Nations General Assembly decided to lay the British Mandate to rest and establish a home for the Jewish people in the Land of Israel.

This UN’s decision gave rise to a nation-state embodiment of the intimate bond between the Jewish people and the Land of Israel.

The path from the decision to the establishment of the state, in which Keren Hayesod took a significant part, was swift.

Still, it sadly included the War of Independence, where the people of Israel was forced to fight for its existence, as well as the resurrection of a sovereign state in our homeland after 2000 years of yearning.

Unfortunately, even today, there are those who deny our right to exist in our own home, but we still remember the past: this is our home; our only one.
