Your Donations Help Bring Relief to Israeli Children Living Near the Gaza Strip

We are proud to support a unique summer camp for more than 100 children from Israel’s south. The camp focuses on alleviated the severe trauma and anxiety that these children have faced over the years.

The children and their families, who have suffered physical or mental harm as a result of rocket fire or kite-born arson devices emanating from the Gaza Strip, are officially recognized by the Israeli government as victims of terrorism. They come from the cities of Sderot, Ashkelon, Be’er Sheva, and Rahat.

The camp helps the children enjoy their summer by spending time in the pool and visiting attractions, such as Israel’s safari, amusement parks, rope courses and more. They also benefit from therapeutic and tension-relieving activities.

Keren Hayesod representatives visited the camp this week. While there, they met three brothers, Yitzhak, Yedidya and Nerihya Tamano. Their family lives in Be’er Sheva, the largest city in the Negev region. During the recent escalation in May, their house was hit by a rocket. Fortunately, their mother was quick enough to get everyone into their bomb shelter. Their house was completely destroyed. The only remaining part of their property was the shelter. The trauma associated with this type of experience is immense, and it is for children like these brothers that the camp runs annually.

The program is held in partnership with The Jewish Agency for Israel, NATAL and the Resilience Center in Sderot, another Keren Hayesod-supported project.

The support of worldwide donors to the camp reminds the children, their families and their communities that they are not alone.
